Qualifications and Experience
Educational Requirements:
A Master’s degree with 16 years of education in Geology or a related field from a Higher Education Commission (HEC) recognized university.
Experience:
A minimum of 10 years of relevant post-qualification experience is required. Candidates with a proven track record in leading and driving mineral exploration functions within the mining industry will be given preference.
Proficiency in using the latest techniques and software for the exploration and evaluation of mineral resources is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Exploration Management: Lead and supervise geological exploration activities to identify and evaluate potential mineral deposits.
- Resource Estimation: Manage resource estimation processes to assess the size, grade, and economic viability of mineral deposits.
- Data Analysis: Ensure proper collection, storage, and analysis of geological data to support informed decision-making.
- Geotechnical Studies: Oversee geotechnical assessments to evaluate the stability and integrity of mine structures, including pit walls, waste dumps, and underground workings.
- Strategic Development: Contribute to the formulation of exploration strategies and targets based on geological interpretations and regional knowledge.
- Due Diligence: Participate in due diligence assessments for potential acquisitions, joint ventures, or investment opportunities.
- Technical Reporting: Prepare comprehensive technical reports, including exploration and resource estimation reports, for internal use and regulatory compliance.
- Mentorship: Provide guidance, mentoring, and training to junior geologists and technical staff to enhance their skills in geological exploration and resource estimation.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and environmental standards related to geological exploration and resource development.
